Courses to be run from Theale Wellbeing Centre

Jayne Doyle BSc is running 4 courses from Theale Wellbeing Centre in September, October, November and December 2013.

The first course is to be held on Sunday 15th September and is Seated Chair Massage.

It is a postgraduate course for massage practitioners and will enable them to complete a 15 minute seated chair massage routine. The routine will include the use of Oriental style massage techniques to relieve tension and promote relaxation.

The day will cover client consultations and contra-indications, followed by a practical demonstration, with the majority of the day practicing the techniques and running through the complete routine. Incorporated in this will be discussion around the Practitioner’s posture and use of body weight. There will be as short talk on the 5 element theory, acupressure points and meridians.

Students must hold qualifications in: massage and anatomy & physiology (level 3), valid first aid certificate and appropriate insurance.

The course will run over 1 day, from 10am to 5pm (arriving from 9.45am) with 1 hour for lunch and a morning and afternoon break. A certificate will be issued at the end and is recognised by Balens Insurance. Lunch is not provided.

 

The second course is to be held on Sunday 6th October and is Subtle Palpation Skills.

This is a postgraduate workshop, for massage practitioners/healers, to gain an insight into subtle palpation skills and self development in order to enhance therapeutic treatment.

Students must hold qualifications in: massage / a healing modality and anatomy & physiology (level 3),  first aid certificate and appropriate insurance.

It will run over 1 day, from 10am to 5pm (arriving from 9.45am) with 1 hour for lunch and a morning and afternoon break. A certificate will be issued at the end for CPD. Lunch is not provided.

This workshop is intended to be interactive, practical, exploratory and fun! A chance to practise meditation and mindfulness, experiment with some different techniques, raise questions and join in with discussion. Jayne can be led by the group as to specific skills to explore such as:

  • Scanning on and off the body to see what you feel
  • Discussion around chakras,  balancing and linking
  • Holding an area you feel “something” in, working with shape and colour to see if anything changes
  • Understanding the importance of self development and the therapeutic relationship.

 

The third course is to be held on Sunday 3rd November and is Thai Yoga Massage.

It is a postgraduate workshop for massage practitioners, to gain an insight into the theory and practice of Traditional Thai Yoga Massage and to learn some simple and effective techniques.

Students must hold qualifications in: massage and anatomy & physiology (level 3),  first aid certificate and appropriate insurance.

The course will run over 1 day, from 10am to 5pm (arriving from 9.45am) with 1 hour for lunch and a morning and afternoon break. A certificate will be issued at the end.

You will need to bring water, lunch, a yoga mat, 2 blankets, a pillow or cushion. Please note that you will be working on the floor and this will be a practical day, so do wear something loose fitting and comfortable, such as tracksuit bottoms and T-shirt. Wear layers as you will get warm when you are practising.

The fourth course is to be held on Saturday 7th & Sunday 8th December and is Massage in Pregnancy.

It will be based around physiological changes to the woman’s body, foetal development, adaptation of a couch/oil based massage i.e. work in side-lying and semi reclined positions, towelling techniques and also how to adapt a massage with the woman sat in a chair, leaning over a table/couch. Essential oil usage and some reflexology points will be covered.

Students must hold qualifications in: massage and anatomy & physiology (level 3), valid first aid certificate and appropriate insurance.

The course will run over 2 days, from 10am to 5pm (arriving from 9.45am) with 1 hour for lunch and a morning and afternoon break. A certificate will be issued at the end and is recognised by Balens Insurance. Lunch is not provided.
